The lifts have stopped turning for winter. Sunday, May 3, 2026 was the final day of the 2025-26 ski season at Lake Louise, and it was a big one: six months on the mountain, one of the strongest snowfall years in recent memory, and enough late-season snowpack that the resort was still talking about 230 cm in the alpine on closing weekend.

That was the winter chapter. It really was an amazing season.

Now the practical summer question takes over: how are you getting to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake? The answer, for most visitors, is not “drive up and see what happens.” The sure path is a reservation.

Start with Parks Canada

Parks Canada should be the first place most visitors check, especially if you are driving to Lake Louise or staying nearby.

For 2026, Parks Canada lists these operating seasons:

  • Lake Louise Lakeshore shuttle: May 15 to October 12
  • Moraine Lake shuttle: June 1 to October 12, weather permitting
  • Lake Connector: June 1 to October 12, linking Lake Louise Lakeshore and Moraine Lake

The Parks Canada shuttle starts and ends at the Lake Louise Park and Ride at the ski resort. A reservation is required, and the ticket includes the return trip to the Park and Ride plus access to both lakes in one day via the Lake Connector. Your national park entry pass is separate.

The important bit: Parks Canada is telling visitors to plan ahead. Shuttle seats are reservation-only, they often sell out well in advance, and trying to solve it on the day is not a good plan. Expect at least a 30-minute wait for a shuttle, and up to an hour during heavy periods.

If you did not book during the April 15 launch, you still have one serious window: Parks Canada releases additional seats at 8:00 am MDT, two days before the day you want to visit. Be ready with your date, destination, and group size before that window opens.

Also worth keeping blunt: if you do not have a confirmed shuttle, Roam, or commercial operator reservation, you are unlikely to find parking at Lake Louise Lakeshore. Moraine Lake Road remains closed to personal vehicles year-round.

Other lake access options

The Lake Louise Ski Resort summer shuttles also come online soon:

  • Lake Louise Lakeshore shuttle: May 22 to October 12
  • Moraine Lake and Lake Louise Lakeshore shuttle: June 1 to October 12
  • Gondola and lakeshore shuttle combos: from June 5

The Lake Louise Summer Gondola is scheduled for June 5 to October 11, 2026, with single-use gondola tickets valid during the summer sightseeing season. Posted operating hours are 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, with the last ride down at 5:10 pm.

Fairview Limousine is already useful for Lake Louise access from the Village, with scheduled Lake Louise shuttles from the Lake Louise Inn and Moraine Lake service beginning June 1. Moraine Lake Bus Company also starts June 1 and runs from Lake Louise pickup points including Samson Mall and the Lake Louise Summer Gondola, with vehicle parking directed to the gondola after 6:00 am.

Short version: winter has ended, but summer access is not casual. Book your transport first, then build the day around it. That is the way through this season.
