Summit Chair

Lift

Whitehorn

Built 2020

A fixed-grip quad built in 2020 by Doppelmayr. Replaced the Summit Platter (T-bar, 1975–2020); which had fulfilled Sir Norman Watson’s dream of a lift to the top of Whitehorn. The platter was a technical challenge (balance, strength); the chair democratised access, increasing traffic on Boomerang while Upper Boomerang’s hike-to apex (formerly Hikers Paradise) remains protected by the boot pack.

Access to Back Bowls. The chair provides vertical to the ridge; skiers traverse Windy Gap; a narrow col often wind-scoured; to reach the Boomerang corridor and Upper Boomerang. See Whitehorn Back Bowls for avalanche governance.
