Richardson's Ridge Express
Lift
Richardson's Ridge
Built 2025
A detachable high-speed quad chairlift serving Richardson’s Ridge; the high ground between Mount Richardson and Whitehorn Mountain. The naming honours Sir John Richardson, surgeon and naturalist who accompanied Sir John Franklin on Arctic expeditions. The centrepiece of the Richardson’s Ridge expansion; nearly three decades in the making, from the 1997 proposal through the 2015 Site Guidelines and 2019 Long Range Plan. Opened 17 December 2025 (Phase 1); ceremonial opening 31 January 2026. Valhalla Helicopters placed towers to minimise construction footprint in sub-alpine forest. Phase 1 introduced approximately 200 acres of green and blue terrain, five new runs; a wind-protected, lower-elevation alternative for beginner and intermediate progression on the back side. Provides access for summer hiking (including larch season) and winter skiing. See Richardson’s Ridge Expansion for full history.
